When it comes to planning a wedding, one of the most important parts is saying “Yes, to the dress!!”. We all want to feel those feels you hear and see on the TV. Finding the one and only (aside from your fiancé, of course), THE wedding dress of your dreams!!
Some say that when you try on “the one” you will know it! Personally, I wasn’t too sure how much I believed in that but I’m here to bust any myths! Ladies, that feeling you get is SO true. You will absolutely know and feel it the moment you find the perfect dress!

I purchased my Casablanca wedding gown from Estelles Dressy Dresses in Farmingdale. I absolutely loved my gown but I have to say I wish I had looked into more options because there are so many amazing boutiques on Long Island. This is why I am here, I want to give all the brides-to-be a new & different perspective!
Before I share some of my favorite Bridal shops, I wanted to share my own “yes to the dress” shopping experience. First off, I did check out a few Bridal shops such as Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point (beautiful store) and then Estelle’s in Farmingdale. When I went to Estelles for the first time, I went with a few of my bridesmaids. I tried on one dress that I loved, it was simple and it had an illusion neckline with some floral appliqués along the neckline. Nothing too over the top or frilly. It was a stunning gown but as much as I loved the way it looked on me it didn’t shout “I AM A BRIDE AND THIS IS MY WEDDING” dress! I felt in any other color it would have been a beautiful gown for a guest. Then, while at Fantasia bridal, I tried on a Mocha ball gown and it was simply stunning! Like jaw-dropped to the floor, stunning! I would have never thought of trying on a mocha colored dress but it was lovely. Although beautiful, the price tag was totally out of my budget and honestly it was not worth breaking that budget! However, I could have tried on dresses for days. I wish I could get married all over again just to keep trying on gorgeous wedding dresses😊
As I tried on each and every gown, my mind kept comparing each one to a this one dress in particular. “The One” I had found at Estelles. This had been the second dress I had ever tried on. It just seemed my mind always crept back to it and I’ll explain the reasons why. Not only did I get all the princess-y, disney-magic vibes from it but I also had an emotion that became attached when I tried it on for the first time. The dress was a gorgeous A-line ball gown, with a beautiful beaded bodice with hints of sparkles all the way down the lace skirt that skimmed the floor. It wasn’t overly sparkly for me — it was just enough. You can see me wearing my wedding dress in the pictures I’ve attached above and below! The main reason I knew it was the one was because when I wore it, all those tiny sparkles at the bottom would catch my eye and it made me think of my now husband. He has always had an eye for shiny things and I was overcome with emotion, thinking of him seeing me walk down that aisle in this dress, vowing our love together to eternity.
Beauty is truly within the details. The Casablanca gown I bought was strapless and we added little lace sleevelets that completed the look. It truly ended up being the wedding dress of my dreams.

With that being said, there are so many amazing bridal boutiques to shop for your wedding gown. Some of the most well known and loved shops in Suffolk County, Long Island are: Bridal Reflections, Sayville Bridal, Ivory & Main, Fantasia Bridal, North Fork Bridal, Bridal Salon of Dix Hills, Bridal Suite of Bay Shore and Max Bridal just to name a few. If you’re in NYC, you’ll find Kleinfeld Bridal which is HOME to the show ‘Say Yes to the dress’ (kind of a big deal)!
Lately, I have to say I have been particularly favoriting a shop or two! I wanted to share some of my favorites with you & why I feel the way I do. As I have mentioned, options are endless and when it comes to your wedding day, I truly believe every bride to be should take time and shop around. Try on as many dresses as you damn well please! Because, well, why not?!
Now, let’s get to business! Here are two of my personal favorites that you should absolutely add to your list if you haven’t heard of them already.
First up, North Fork Bridal !
North Fork Bridal is located on the north shore’s east end. I remember when the shop first opened at the newly opened Shoppes at East Wind in Wading River. It was an adorable boutique. Recently they have opened up a new store front on the East Wind property and it is looking absolutely incredible. Personally, I’m a sucker for details and this place has an overall aesthetic of every bride’s dream. Their Instagram and their shop is beyond “regrammable”! I just love it. With gorgeous flowing florals, to fun eccentric balloon arches, they have a ton of photo-fun opportunities all over the place to make the experience an overall delight for you and your family, bridesmaids and friends!

When I first saw North Fork Bridal Shop I had already purchased my dress. Now a couple years later, I love seeing this beautiful boutique turn into a grand, exciting experience for all brides and their families! Getting married is such an exciting and special moment so it is nice to see a company such as this one put so much effort into every detail! They have 3 different themed rooms for trying on your gowns, the Ruby room, the Emerald room and the Amethyst room. I mean, how freaking cute!! I am obsessed💗 Also, they offer more than bridal gowns so you can also shop for bridesmaids, moms, and more! Definitely a place you need to add to your dress shopping list!

Next up, Ivory & Main!
About 2 years ago, I moved to the South Shore not far from Sayville. When I heard of this boutique I had to do some research. Ivory & Main is the first boutique I have ever heard of that specializes in Plus Sized gowns! All my fellow curvy girls out there who may be struggling to find the dress of your dreams, this shop is for you!! It’s definitely a place I wish I knew of when I was dress shopping! Ivory & Main has a beautiful background story as to how it became New York’s 1st Plus Size Bridal boutique! The founder and owner Currine, a plus size woman, was in the search for her own wedding gown and realized there were no local shops let alone any in all of NY state that dedicated to the curvier bride. She knew how hard it could be for other women to shop for regular plus sized clothing and she felt no woman should ever feel less-than when it came to their wedding day! Currine decided to opened Ivory & Main located in Sayville as the first plus sized bridal shop in New York. Talk about bad-ass- girl boss goals!! Such a fabulous idea. There is nothing better than a local shop that knows their customer. It creates an overall comfortable and inviting experience for those who come in to shop!

Not only does Ivory & Main have stunning gown options for the beautiful bride to be, they just launched a sexy, fun plus-size lingerie section! Perfect to pack for the honey moon! In addition, you can see a tour of the shop on their Instagram and how beautiful the new renovations are! As I’ve mentioned before, probably several times, I am such a sucker for details!! This store not only provides comfort for the curvier bride, it also has a beautifully eclectic, glamorous and vintage vibe that I absolutely love. Here you can find bridal gowns as well as bridesmaid/mother to be gowns in sizes 14-32 with all kinds sparkly and luxurious accessories! What’s not to love?!

This is YOUR year and planning a wedding should be everything you had hoped it would be. Don’t forget to check out some of my recent favorites like North Fork Bridal in Wading River and Ivory & Main in Sayville. Be sure to add them to your dress shopping lists!
