Let’s Talk: 20/20 Vision

We were all ready to start our year with 20/20 vision back in January. But, our world certainly changed and shifted life as we know it. What do brave Americans do during uncertain times? Communities come together! We use hardships as stepping stones. When you support and value your community – you are inspired to do work from the heart. We are much stronger when we are united. For example, at the beginning of this pandemic, I saw local restaurants donate trays of food to local hospitals whose health care workers have been working tirelessly during this pandemic. I saw pastry chefs in my area donating their services just to bring smiles to peoples faces, I saw balloon designers creating special lawn signs to thank our front line workers or delivering birthday balloon drop offs to people celebrating milestone throughout the stay-at-home order. People were taking the time to serve, support and uplift one another. It made these hard times a little less hard.

Unfortunately, this 2020 pandemic has flipped a lot of businesses on their heads. Many businesses in the neighborhoods have gone under or are just barely getting by. However, when you’re in the event industry, you are reminded that there is always a reason to celebrate life! When the going gets tough, the tough keep going and I think it’s important to remember during these uncertain times Americans always come together. A little kindness goes a long way.

If there is one thing I’ve noticed while expanding my personal business during this pandemic it’s that we can pivot our business by thinking outside the box and by evolving. Out with the old, in with the new, life goes on! Many weddings on Long Island have unfortunately been forcefully cancelled and made smaller this year. It’s not an ideal situation to plan pandemic wedding but it is still possible! My heart goes out to all the “Corona” Brides & Grooms. Some are postponing and some are downsizing and it all depends on what your dream wedding looks like & what your gut is telling you to do. I always say that when you have the right, reliable vendors your wedding day can still be just as magical as ever! As well as one that will make history!! 2020 is now starting a trend of creating more intimate and romantic wedding settings, which I am am all here for!! 🤍

Being a recent bride myself, celebrating my own 3 year wedding anniversary this October, I can relate to the many struggles and financial pressures that consist with your typical wedding planning. Let alone the outside pressures that come with a whole pandemic! So, if you are getting married this year, be easy on yourself! Living in New York and on Long Island there is a much higher cost of living which can become taxing on the average person. Whatever you do, don’t give up on your dream wedding. Don’t fear the recent changes and shifts because I have witnessed some of these more intimate weddings and I think they may actually be a hidden gem New Yorkers never knew they needed! I mean, did you really want to invite some of your parents co-workers or your mother’s sisters cousin Herb you’ve never met in your life?! 😂 We’ve all been there!

Hiring a planner comes in handy especially during times like these and it teaches you that if you want things badly enough you just have to go for it! Whether it be in business, your relationships or life in general. If a Gatsby, glamorous styled wedding is your dream, post-pone the reception. Postponements will also give you the option to invest more for the biggest party you’ll ever throw in your life! You will have extra time and maybe you can finally add that show stopping champagne tower you’ve always wanted. But, if waiting until 2021/2022 isn’t your thing, you can still create a perfect and low key night of your dreams with your closest loved ones depending on the states requirements. Understanding budgets, open communication with your vendors and having a wedding timeline will make all your wedding planning so much easier! Remember there is always a silver lining…!⭐ Maybe hindsight really is 20/20 😉
